Peter McCool
Dr. McCool is a lawyer and an emergency physician who specializes in medical malpractice cases. He joined Law MD after working as an associate at a personal injury firm in DC, where he handled complex and high-stakes cases involving medical negligence. He has a unique combination of legal and medical expertise that allows him to effectively advocate for his clients and obtain favorable outcomes.
Dr. McCool graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine in 2004 and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago in 2007. He then worked as an emergency physician at various hospitals, where he gained extensive clinical experience and served as a medical director and a faculty member. He also participated in the Med-Spanish Program in Mexico, where he learned medical Spanish and provided care to underserved communities.
Dr. McCool decided himself to pursuing a career in law after witnessing the devastating effects of medical errors on patients and their families. He enrolled at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 2020. During law school, he worked as a law clerk for a boutique law firm, where he assisted with civil litigation matters, including contract disputes, employment issues, and personal injury claims. He also honed his research, writing, and analytical skills through various courses and activities.
Dr. McCool is a member of several professional associations, including the American Association for Justice, the American College of Legal Medicine, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan DC, the Maryland Association for Justice, the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. He has received several awards for his excellence in teaching, public service, and community service.
Dr. McCool is passionate about helping victims of medical malpractice and holding negligent health care providers accountable. He is committed to providing compassionate and personalized representation to his clients and achieving justice for them.
